The Lord is Holy and His Name is HOLY
It is a prohibition of blasphemy, specifically, the misuse or "taking in vain" of the name of the God or using His name to commit evil.
Exodus 20:7 reads: "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain."
A lot of people use the name of God, in daily conversation or in their casual talking....
Words like O My God, Jesus Christ, God, in there daily common talking.
The Name of God is Holy and should be Respected and used only where appropriate, when you pray or bless someone or call his name for help.
Many have faint views of the Holiness of God, and how much they take His Holy and reverend name in Vain, without realizing that it is God, that great and terrible God, of whom they are speaking.
While praying, many use careless and irreverent expressions, which grieve the tender spirit of the Lord and cause their petitions to be shut out of heaven.
